Creating space with Michael Andreacchi

Eliminating rubbish is undeniably an important task. Extra stuff is not just messy it’s stressful. Decluttering your homes and offices thus creates space for something new and positive. However, if junk removal is not done the right way, the adverse effects it can have on humans and the environment needs no introduction.

It all started when two friends Michael Andreacchi and Brian Reardon while working, noticed the shortfalls of the junk removal industry. Eager to offer professional junk removal services with the effectiveness it lacked, they formed Junk King, the nation’s top-rated, greenest junk removal and hauling service. Though launched in a two-car garage in 2005, San Francisco Bay Area, CA-based Junk King, today is a vast network of more than 100 locations across the United States including six in Canada.

“We reduce, reuse, and donate up to 60% of the items we pick up,” says Michael Andreacchi, CEO and Founder, Junk King.

Junk removal made easy

An average consumer or business usually does not have the necessary resources to haul large items and hence lack the desire to go to the local dumping station. As junk starts piling up, it also tends to bring frustration that leads to unhealthy dumping practices. Intending to make junk removal an easy and convenient task, Junk King offers junk removal services to both residential consumers and businesses. As an on-demand service provider, Junk King eradicates almost any kind of trash from your home and business. Along with the removal of furniture and appliances, it also undertakes full house cleanouts, light demolition in many markets, and picks up all kinds of trash and construction debris from real estate sites. Junk King also offers dumpster rentals. These dumpsters are driveway-friendly and don’t disrupt a customer’s driveway or property. “Customers simply make an appointment and our crew shows up on time in our Junk King trucks with the right equipment and free customers of their junk,” says MichaelJunk King saves consumers time and money by eliminating unwanted clutter quickly and efficiently. But what separates Junk King from other junk-removal services is that as opposed to just hauling and dumping everything off they separate non-recyclable items from those that can be recycled or donated. As Junk King focuses on recycling, reusing, and repurposing of at least 60% of every truck, residents (homeowners) and businesses willingly utilize its services and contribute to a healthier ecosystem.

“Junk King is doing everything it could to help people reduce their environmental footprint and help local communities minimize the waste that goes into their landfills,” says Michael.

Best known for its professionalism, advanced technology programs, and commitment to recycling, repurposing, and reusing materials, Junk King has been recognized as the #1 Rated Service Brand in America. The company culture has helped make it an industry leader. Michael recollects the countless numbers of hours he invested in building a strong team of dedicated and innovative individuals. Proud to have a team that is obsessed with finding new ways to enhance the junk removal experience, Michael believes that it is his team that gives him an edge over its competitors. “I’m really proud of the collaborative culture we have developed among the corporate team and the franchisees. As a brand, our focus on being environmentally-conscious and customer-focused service is something each of us holds near and dear to our hearts,” shares Michael.

“I’m really proud of the collaborative culture we have developed among the corporate team and the franchisees. As a brand, our focus on being environmentally-conscious and customer-focused service is something each of us holds near and dear to our hearts.”

Not just business

Since its establishment, the core focus of Junk King has always been on safeguarding the ecosystem from the detrimental effects of irresponsible and unhealthy junk eradication processes. Michael with a vision of changing the mindset of people is on a mission to making junk removal a systematic, organized, and eco-friendly process. Having noticed the way junk is irresponsibly dumped into landfills, Michael wants people to understand the impact dumping junk has on the ecology and wants to lay down a structure that will educate and motivate others to eradicate junk responsibly. To grow Junk King into a national brand and share his vision with a multitude of people, Michael started offering Junk King franchises in 2009.

Sharing opportunity. Sharing success

To be a part of this tried and tested franchise system that has offered success and financial freedom to many, one does not need to be a business genius. Though many of Junk King’s franchise partners are successful business people and executives who are experts in sales, marketing, operations, and other franchise systems, it is not at all a mandate. Junk King also have successful franchise partners who are teachers, Navy veterans, accountants, health care professionals, lawyers, moms, and dads. The franchise system is designed and works the same for everyone who desires to succeed and is willing to commit to his own and company’s success.

Once franchisees are on board and training is complete, Junk King ensures the support is beyond exceptional. To empower them, it provides its franchisees an operations team (Franchise Business Consultants) who goes out in the field and works with franchise owners on-site and remotely. To propel its franchisees towards success, Junk King, has a well-defined operational system. “Our partners appreciate the ease of training, the ongoing training support, and the ability to be off and running quickly,” shares Michael. Having understood the importance of good customer service, Junk King bears the responsibility of providing exceptional customer service thereby enabling its franchise owners to concentrate on business development and enhancing customer relationships. “One of the things that make Junk King extremely unique is the fact that we have such a successful and efficient national call center,” emphasizes Michael. “Over 90 percent of all customer call activity is filtered through our centralized call center so that our franchisees don’t have to worry about being available 24/7 to pick up the phone.” Moreover, by having its own call center Junk King eliminates the need for each franchisee to have their ever-growing team of people trained to take calls with a growing business. “We are committed to combining old-fashioned customer service principles with state-of-the-art technology to provide customers with timely and professional junk removal services,” states Michael.

Junk King’s business is automation resistant, recession-resistant, and pandemic resistant. The company’s revenue has been up year over year through the pandemic, as they are an essential business. It is a business model that Steve Kaiser, owner of Junk King Phoenix, Surprise & Mesa likes. He says, “I became interested in Junk King because of the scalability of the model, but I have come to love Junk King for the people and the interesting things we pick up.” While Paul Durant, owner of Junk King Denver South and Denver North expresses, “Franchising allows us to operate independently, with little red tape. I like mentoring younger employees in our organization and recycling/donating a large percentage of our work. Both are ways of giving back to the community that is woven into our culture.”

With a simple and transparent financial business plan, extreme commitment towards its customers and franchisees, and a goal to reduce environmental impact, Junk King is more than a mere junk removal company.

Our goal is to become the leading provider of all junk removal services, while helping to save the planet, one truck at a time, by being environmentally conscious,” says Michael.
