Matt Clements was born and raised in Laguna Niguel, California. He runs a family business in real estate and has attained exceptional success over the past two decades. With only a single location, Matt’s venture is located in his hometown, which has over 300 active Realtors.

Prior to joining the real estate business in 2001, he competed as a professional athlete—a pro surfer—on the world surf tour between 1994 and 2000. He is the fourth-generation Realtor in Orange County after his first career. “Dad, Gramps, and Great-Grandma were all Realtors, Grandpa was also President of his Association, twice,” he mentions.Matt is an exceptionally well-connected, 4th generation real estate agent with more than 20 years of professional experience. He brings an incredible breadth of industry knowledge, a proven track record of success, and a glowing reputation to his role at Keller Williams Luxury International in Laguna Niguel, California. To date, his sales volume exceeds $100 million in CA residential home sales as a young man. He founded the Orange County Young Professionals Network, and authored the Young Professionals Network Playbook. Matt, who is also the CEO of The Clements Group, has a stellar commitment and interest in both the local real estate realm and the industry on a national level. He has served several years in leadership on the committees of legislative, land use, business technology, professional development, and young professionals for C.A.R. Simply to summarize, Matt won the biggest award for the Young Professionals Network issued by the National Association of Realtors, authored the YPN Playbook, and sat on N.A.R.’s YPN advisory board, representing California, Hawaii, and Guam. His role still includes meeting with members of Congress and state legislators to discuss current and proposed real estate-related legislation; lawmakers often consider Matt’s insight when weighing their decisions. Previously, in 2016, he served as Chairman of the California Association of REALTORS® Young Professionals Network (C.A.R. YPN), when the group won the YPN State Network of the Year. Moreover, Matt was President of the Orange County REALTORS®, the largest REALTOR® association in California, with over 17,000 members. He is also the youngest person to ever hold this elected office.

Matt describes his business as a “luxury VIP service” that combines personal attention with professional services. Its mission is to deliver more than the expectations of its clients. It firmly believes in customer satisfaction and continuously attempts to amaze its clients. 

Matt thrives on ‘trust’. He reckons that his clients trust his offerings. These clients are intrigued by his remarkable professional team and his consistent track record. Matt is well-versed in the geography of his town; he believes he knows every street in town, and it has benefited his company in a variety of ways. Nevertheless, he relies on his outstanding marketing team, which puts its efforts at the top notch to gain more coverage from the audience. In addition to ‘absolute trust,’ Matt works by referral. His strong connections with everyone have directly and indirectly helped him gain more clients and a well-known market reputation. Matt has received the Five Star Award for customer service and overall satisfaction for the past seven years in a row. He was awarded a gold medal for sales, putting him in the top 1% of all salespeople. He is committed to getting potential individuals on board to create a proficient team. Matt maintains constant and consistent communication with his clients. The fluctuations in the market conditions are something that excites him. He has been through three ups and three downs, studying the savings and loan meltdown in 1991, the 81-82 inflationary period, the oil embargo in the 1970s, the post-World War II housing boom, and the Orange County development formulas.He adds, “I also recognize we’re in a MAJOR housing shortage in California.

The evolution of online marketing has remarkably affected real estate. Matt asserts that everything oriented toward real estate has been positively as well as negatively touched by digitalization. “Especially those who view the homes dozens and dozens of times, we see those analytics,” Matt adds.

Learnings from the past 

Matt states that businesses were severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The work-from-home option was increasing the high beach-lifestyle demand from the employees, combined with the ultra-low supply. Though the supply was at an extreme, as Matt would say, peak in June 2022, “Selling homes in a week is not real, only in fake markets, as the people were frantic and paying way too much for homes without any consideration of a turn ahead. What goes up must also come back down,” he adds. Though technology has been a cradle for human progress, it may now be impeding progress in other areas. Matt claims that people are more in need of people than ever before and that only human values can resolve human curiosity about a product or service issue. “Photography, video, and drone photography are non-negotiables,” says Matt.

Matt hopes that this company will reach many milestones along the way and become the most trusted Realtor in Orange County. In addition to that, he envisions steady progress and development in real estate and acquisitions. “It’s all by referral; get a database; know that you WILL do a little—a lot; and be there for them and, for goodness’ sake, pick up the phone!” he advises. Matt says his grandfather was one of many wise people who taught him valuable lessons. His grandfather once said, ‘see the people’ which he considers the best advice he has ever received. “It’s face-to-face, belly-to-belly, that builds trust; customers have so many questions and need someone to count on, which is why ‘I’ll be there for you,’ is my quote, just like the ‘Friends’ theme song,” Matt concludes.
