Karla Galvão: Building Inclusive Futures Through Technology and Empathy

The Co-Founder & CMO of Key2Enable is revolutionizing education for children with disabilities—and redefining what leadership looks like in the process.

Karla Galvão never set out to be a business leader. A creative at heart, she initially envisioned a life in music and the arts. But somewhere along the way, she realized something profound: Everything is business. Whether in education, technology, music or social impact, the ability to create value, manage resources, and scale solutions is what turns vision into reality.

Today, as Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Key2Enable, Galvão is at the forefront of a quiet revolution in assistive technology. Her company, headquartered in the UAE, is bridging the education gap for children with disabilities through a powerful combination of AI-driven learning tools, award-winning hardware, and evidence-based teaching methodologies.

But what truly sets Key2Enable apart isn’t just its technology—it’s the philosophy behind it. “We don’t just provide assistive tools,” Galvão explains. “We create inclusive learning ecosystems that allow children with disabilities to grow, learn, and thrive alongside their peers.”

In an era where tech startups often chase vanity metrics over real-world impact, Galvão’s approach is a refreshing reminder that business can—and should—be a force for good.

From Creative to Catalyst

Galvão’s journey into entrepreneurship was anything but linear. Coming from a background where creativity and problem-solving were survival skills, she learned early on that innovation isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity.

“I’ve always believed that the sweet spot between creativity and productivity is where the real magic happens,” she says. “In a startup, you don’t have the luxury of overthinking. You have to move, adapt, and reinvent constantly.”

One of her most pivotal career moments came when she began traveling internationally to represent Key2Enable—often alone, in unfamiliar markets, with the pressure to secure partnerships, investors, and clients. “Those experiences forced me to lead from the front,” she recalls. “I had to learn how to communicate our mission with clarity, navigate cultural nuances, and turn challenges into opportunities.”

Her resilience paid off. In 2024, Galvão was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Middle East list, a recognition that validated not just her leadership, but the broader mission of Key2Enable.

A New Narrative for Disability

One of Galvão’s core strategies has been reshaping how society views disability. “Too often, narratives around disability focus on limitations rather than potential,” she says. “We consciously flip that script—highlighting what children can achieve when given the right tools.”

This philosophy is embedded in Key2Enable’s Inclusive Labs, where children with motor, physical, and cognitive disabilities engage with adaptive technology to develop literacy, communication, and social-emotional skills. The results speak for themselves: In 2025 alone, the company impacted over 150 children in the UAE, trained 100 teachers in inclusive methodologies, and engaged 200 university volunteers in assistive technology initiatives.

But the impact goes beyond education. Key2Enable also employs individuals with disabilities in its hardware assembly process—a move that aligns with the UAE’s broader goals for economic inclusion. “People with cognitive disabilities handle wiring, branding, and quality testing for our devices,” Galvão explains. “It’s about dignity, opportunity, and meaningful work—not charity.”

Leadership with Heart

Galvão’s leadership style is a blend of vision and vulnerability. “I don’t believe leadership is about having all the answers,” she says. “It’s about creating conditions where people can do their best work—and giving them the autonomy to surprise you.”

This approach has been critical in Key2Enable’s rapid growth. By fostering a culture of bold thinking and proactivity, Galvão has helped scale the company’s solutions across multiple regions while staying true to its mission.

She credits much of her leadership philosophy to her mentor, José Rubinger, Key2Enable’s CEO. “From him, I learned that reinvention isn’t optional in a startup,” she says. “You have to stay in motion, turning obstacles into momentum.”

The Road Ahead

Looking to the next decade, Galvão has ambitious plans. She aims to expand Key2Enable’s Labs into Europe, and the United States, bringing inclusive education to more children worldwide. She also dreams of launching a music education initiative for children with disabilities, merging her passion for music, as an artist herself, with her commitment to accessibility.

But beyond metrics and milestones, what drives her is something deeper. “I want my leadership to be remembered as human,” she reflects. “I hope people remember that I built things that mattered—not just because they were innovative, but because they changed lives.”

In a world where business is often reduced to profit margins and growth charts, Karla Galvão stands out—not just as a leader, but as a catalyst for inclusion, empathy, and real change.

And that, perhaps, is the most powerful innovation of all.
