Read the audio version

“Safe Home” is a privilege that many Americans do not enjoy. The idea to own a house is still a dream to many people yet, few are making efforts to transform the dream into reality. The scenario to own a house is and has always been a tiring, time-consuming, and relatively difficult process, therefore the need for a real estate agent becomes a necessity rather than a want.

Meet Amy Weber, an actor, model, and business professional who excels at finding her clients their dream home. She was always passionate about homes; thus, she stirred her success as an actress and model with her passion. She understands the real estate market and has made a number of smart investments that have yielded huge returns. This encouraged her to start her own business and assist people in finding the perfect home. Amy empathizes with many house buyers who seek a safe home for them as well as for their children based on her personal experience. Amy realized the significance of a ‘home’ after becoming a mother of twins. Amy says, “Everything starts in the home and if I can be a part of that for others, I can sleep easily at night.” With this thought, she built Amy Weber and Associates. Today, Amy serves as a Director of Residential Estates and is a full-service concierge real estate broker that provides houses to clients based on their needs. Along with it, she is an accredited home stager, broker associate, and E-Pro Real Estate Agent as well as a Certified Real Estate Specialist (CRS), a Buyer’s Real Estate Specialist (BRS), a Senior Real Estate pro (SRES), and Certified Probate Real Estate Specialist (CPRES). With 8 years of experience in the business, she has been assisting people in buying a home throughout Southern, CA.

Amy cherishes the idea of ‘giving’ hence she always tries to put the service of others at the forefront of her business. She says, “You don’t think of Real Estate agents as putting others first, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.” She dispels the myth that all realtors are driven solely by profit by focusing on compassion rather than monetary assets. She feels charity should always be a part of one’s business model. She asserts, “My brokerage that I hang my license with works with ‘Give Back Homes’ to help combat the homelessness crisis here in CA. You get back what you put out in life.” As per a survey, there are more than 150 thousand homeless people in the city of CA itself, which is continuously growing. Amy contributes to eradicating this situation by assisting homeless people in finding a place to call home. Her generosity to these people puts her in the good graces of many people.

Amy’s leadership journey started when she was young. She soon realized her expertise and channelized her potential into achieving various milestones in her path. After entering into the business, as an empathetic individual, she always attempts to seek new ways to help her clients to feel more heard and provide them as per their requirements. “Buying and selling Real Estate can be very stressful to some people and you have to lead with your heart as well as your mind,” she emphasizes. In such cases, one must anticipate all possibilities before seizing any opportunity; acting decisively proves to be more beneficial than relying solely on luck.

“Everything starts in the home and if I can be a part of that for others, I can sleep easily at night.”

Bending the unbendable

To state the harsh reality, the business world is dominated by men. Fortunately, many female leaders are working hard and overcoming social biases by excelling in their businesses. Amy experienced various instances where her clients have undervalued her work. “I have had clients that spoke to me in a way that they would never speak to a man in the same manner,” shares Amy. “I had a frank conversation and explained that I deserve respect in the same way that I give respect.

Amy does not believe in the adage, ‘My way or the highway.’ She asserts that everyone is entitled to their own opinions and that people must be open to them. She completely disagrees with the quote and encourages aspiring female leaders to break free from traditional practices and present a better version of themselves in order to move forward. Throughout her journey, she has always been mindful of other people’s points of view while never losing sight of the path she has blazed for herself. One such instance was her decision to leave her previous brokerage. “I’m glad I ignored the advice to stay at my old brokerage in a very broken ‘partnership,’” she says. It was a toxic environment, she said, and not one that would foster true personal and professional growth. This was a major risk. She says, “To leave that comfort zone of knowing that you are a pretty big fish to going into an Ocean of giants is scary, but it ultimately pushed me to become 100 times better than I ever thought possible.”

In her current venture, Amy tries to maintain a healthy work environment where the employees are encouraged to give more than their best. “I want hard-working people that see the big, long-term picture,” adds Amy. “Ethics and Morals are big with me.” She believes that everyone in the workplace should have an adequate work ethic and adhere to the morals of the companies for which they work. She says, “I also want to make sure that I am not dealing with fake people that need to flex, especially on Social Media. I want real people that have real goals and a real heart.” She prefers honesty and openness, and thus values maintaining genuine human connections with clients while carrying out business. She adds, “I stay real with them. Then they feel comfortable doing the same with me and we have a true human to human connection.”

Keeping up the pace

Technology is constantly evolving with each passing second. Every business is working hard to adapt to technological changes in order to increase its growth and efficiency. Amy recognizes the potential of the technological shift and elaborates briefly on how many systems have become obsolete. She goes on to say that by incorporating these elements, her company has broadened its scope and is well-equipped with marketing mediums. Through harnessing these advancements, she desires to include a perfect balance between her work and life. She also ensures that technological benefits are implemented to reduce homelessness and provide better ways to assist people without homes through ‘Give Back Home’ initiatives. She continues to set such goals and desires to achieve them despite obstacles and an external pessimist mentality. “We do more, so you get more,” concludes Amy.

“To leave that comfort zone of knowing that you are a pretty big fish to going into an Ocean of giants is scary, but it ultimately pushed me to become 100 times better than I ever thought possible.”
